Rainbow Folders 1.02 Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP
(FileSize: 328 kb) [Freeware] ScreenShot

Rainbow Folders (RF) is an easy to use program, which allows you to change color of the icon representing chosen folder to any color you like. What for ? Mainly to boost yours computer usage speed & skills. When you're exploring directory which contains lots of subdirectories in Windows Explorer you can easily commit a mistake, e.g. by clicking the folder's icon which have similar name to the one you really wanted to go. When the folders will be marked with the colors of your desire you won't make any mistake and after some time you'll be clicking the right folders by the impulse. For example you can use RF to mark subdirectory TEMP inside C:\WINDOWS\. Then after going to the system dir you won't be searching the TEMP dir on the whole screen, but at the start you will click e.g. the eye attacking bloodly red folder. And now the best part: you can colorize unlimited number of folders - each into a different color. So you can e.g. colorize to red all important folders, then colorize all frequently visited folders to green etc. Also the effect of colorizing folders is not only visible in Explorer but in whole system, so also in any directory selection tree, and open/save dialog in any Windows application ! But changing colors is not everything you can do with help of RC, you can also set an extra warning when someone will be trying to delete colorized folder, and optional text that will 'pop up' when the cursor stops above the folder's icon for a while.

Hello all: I noticed that some of the links to Screenshots, especially from WebAttack, are being blocked. So I will have to go through the links of all posts that have screenshots from WebAttack. I can understand them blocking them as it's bad etiquette to link to someone else's links. I usually try to link to the author's homepage, for the program screenshots. What I really find surprising is that there are many author's of Freeware programs, who don't have a link on their page for a screenshot! I find that unbelievable but it's true. So I then usually find the screenshot through WebAttack. Well I won't link to WebAttack anymore. Please bare with me, as I fix the screenshot links that aren't working over the next couple of weeks. Happy Freewaring to all!

Maileet is a solution for transferring files between people, regardless the file size or if the people are behind the meanest firewall. Maileet can transfer the file to many recipients where the sender uploads the file once. The principle behind Maileet is quite simple: it cuts any file size into little segments (2MB max) and uses a mail server (SMTP/POP3) to transfer them to the peers. Since virtually every computer accepts e-mails, regardless of the firewall configuration, the file will be received by virtually any computer. On the receiver side, Maileet client downloads the segments and combines them back. Maileet has many features that help you manage the send, like queuing, pause/resume, session saving, re-send requests, and more.

MediaMonkey 2.0 Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP
(FileSize: 3.9 mb) [Freeware] ScreenShot

MediaMonkey is an easy-to-use organizer for serious music collectors. It catalogs your CD, MP3, WMA and OGG audio tracks. It looks up and intelligently tags, renames and reorganizes them. It rips CDs, converts audio file formats, and easily creates mixes. It integrates with Nero for CD-burning and with Winamp for playback. It also includes a built-in player that supports Winamp plug-ins and automatically adjusts volume levels so you don't have to continually fiddle with the volume control. This version features minor improvements and bug fixes. Review

Despite a glut of free player/encoders, it's tough to find one that meets our expectations. Formerly known as Sound DB, MediaMonkey has excellent library-management tools that keep the largest digital music collections well-organized. Stir that up with tight Winamp and Nero CD-burning integration, a stellar interface and a full-featured encoder, and you have a pretty compelling product.
Upon first launch, the program prompts you to scan your drive for any supported digital media files in order to add them to the library. Files are sorted based on the ID3 tag, and helpful Auto-Rename and Auto-Tag From Filename features keep untagged tracks from falling through the cracks. Third-party plug-ins are available from the site if you want to tinker with the playback and encoding engine or add additional sound-processing effects. The interface is well-designed, with clean, colorful icons throughout. One minor quibble is that encoding is sluggish compared to other products.

Considering the overall polish of this application, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything you don't like. Although it is definitely geared toward managing extensive collections, just about anyone will appreciate the comprehensive feature set. For $20, MediaMonkey Gold adds advanced features such as sleep, scripting and previewing.
