Quick Hide Windows 1.61 Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
(FileSize: 966 kb) [Freeware] ScreenShot

Quick Hide Windows by CronoSoft is great for hiding program windows with a press of a hotkey combination. You easily bring them back with another combo. Hiding the taskbar and desktop icons is just awesome. Password protection allows you to lock QHW to prevent intruders from trying to show invisible applications while you're gone. You can even lock your computer with QHW instead of a weak, easily hackable screensaver password.

Situation: You find yourself on your office computer reading something enjoyable, writing a personal letter, or simply surfing the web. All of a sudden your boss walks in... You have a few options at this point:

1) You can try to close each application and then continually confirm that you do not need to save the data.

2) You can quickly press the reset key on your computer and then spend a great deal of time trying to restore working applications which were active before the reboot.

3) OR, You can hide applications by pressing a hotkey and, when your boss leaves, you can make those windows visible again by pressing the hotkey. If choice (3) is right for you, then you need QUICK HIDE WINDOWS!

What happens if you want to use some banned/illegal program at work, e.g. chat (IRC, ICQ, MSN, etc.) or games? This security tool will solve this problem as well! What if unnecessary windows that you have to close open all the time in your system? Using QHW it wont be a problem anymore! Want to password protect your computer to keep away unwanted users? Lock your desktop with QHW's lock screen!

ZipInstaller 1.0 Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
(FileSize: 43 kb) [Freeware] ScreenShot

ZipInstaller allows you to install and uninstall applications that do not provide an internal installation program. Many times, a program does not require installation and can simply be unzipped and saved to any folder. While there is nothing wrong with that, you may forget about where you saved the program, or even that you still have it. That's where ZipInstaller comes in - it extracts all files from the Zip file, copies them to the destination folder you select, creates (optional) shortcuts in the start menu and in your desktop, and adds an uninstall module to allow you to automatically remove the software in the future. Handy tool for frequent downloaders.

K9 v1.00 Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
(FileSize: 88 kb) [Freeware] ScreenShot

K9 is an anti-spam e-mail filtering application that works in conjunction with your regular POP3 e-mail program, and automatically classifies incoming e-mails as spam (junk e-mail) or non-spam. The program uses intelligent statistical analysis that can result in extremely high accuracy over time, and eliminates the need for maintaining dozens of rules or constant updates to be downloaded. K9 learns from what you are considering spam and will automatically tag all future e-mails that match the pattern. You can then set up rules (in Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.) to delete or move the spam-tagged messages. The initial results will be moderate; however, after processing a few dozen e-mails, K9 will detect a very large percentage of the spam and further improve accuracy over time. The advantage of this is that the program is able to filter spam based on your personal e-mail statistics, rather than a generic or global list. The interface allows you to view your mail history and change the status for certain messages, thereby automatically updating the filter settings. Additional features include whitelist and blacklist, long-term statistics, and more. K9 does not delete any messages automatically, but only tags them for further processing.

URLFixer v1.01 Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP
(FileSize: 349 kb) [Freeware] No ScreenShot

{Fix broken URLs} Select and copy a broken URL from an e-mail or Usenet article and double-click on the URLFixer icon in the system tray. Paste it in the e-mail or address box (or wherever it needs to go) and you'll see it whole again. This is especially helpful when long URLs are split. Instead of pasting the first part of the link into the browser and then returning to the e-mail to copy the second line and carefully add it at the end of the first, just double-click on the URLFixer icon and paste it into the browser. URLs can be shortened using Web sites like tinyurl.com, urlshortcut.com, and makeashorterlink.com. However, these are links you receive rather than send out. With fancy backend programming to automate a Web site's functionality, links are becoming more complicated than good ol' http://www.website.com/about/. Running URLFixer in the system tray takes about 728k of resources; definitely on the lower end compared to other system resources.

EditURLs v1.07 Windows Windows 95/98/NT4/ME/2000/XP
(FileSize: 433 kb) [Freeware] ScreenShot

{Cleaning up Internet Explorer URLs} EditURLs can edit URL addresses in Internet Explorer's URL address drop-down list, which are also referred to as "typed URLs." Rather than using the risky Windows Registry editor, EditURL provides a safe interface for editing and deleting the URLs in the Windows Registry. The program also has the ability to restore a saved copy of the "typed URLs," meaning the user can maintain a personal set of "typed URLs" in a master set for restoring with a click of a button. URLs can be sorted. EditURLs works with Internet Explorer 4.0 and later, but we would hope you're using at least v5.0. Those using Mozilla, Netscape, or Opera won't be able to use the program. When using EditURLs, be sure Internet Explorer is not running.

SlimBrowser 3.53 Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP
(FileSize: 754 kb) [Freeware] ScreenShot

SlimBrowser is a multiple-site browser based on tab-page interface. It incorporates a large collection of powerful features like built-in popup killer, skinned window frame, form filler, site group, quick-search, auto login, hidden sites, built-in commands and scripting, online translation, script error suppression, blacklist / whitelist filtering, URL Alias. It brings you convenient and comfortable browsing. Popup Killer is one of the best features in SlimBrowser. Popup killer automatically blocks annoying popup ad windows. A pitfall with most popup killers is that some popup windows are not ads but they are killed by mistake. This is undesirable even with the aid of a white list. This problem is solved ideally by Recoverable Popup Killer. Whenever a popup ad is detected, it will be suppressed in a hidden state, i.e., deprived of the power to burden your eyes. Meanwhile, a toolbar icon will be flashed and you will hear an optional beep sound. If you think you may have lost a useful popup window, just click a button to recover the last hidden popup window. The popup window will be permanently killed if it's not manually recovered after a particular time. This mechanism of popup window blocking also eliminates all script errors which are often induced by immediately killing popup windows.
