Here is a cool tip from the excellent LockerGnome newsletter!

Question: I have Office 2000 installed on my system. I was wondering if there is any way to copy the contents of multiple e- mails from Outlook and paste them into a Word document.

Answer: You can save selected messages to a single text file without attachments by doing the following:

1. In Outlook, select the messages you want to save. Do this by selecting them all with CTRL + A (or Edit | Select All), or select the messages by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on the particular messages you wish to save).

2. Choose File | Save As.

3. Choose where to save the file, give it a name, and click Save.

4. Open Word and locate the file where you saved it and open it.

You can also save all the messages in a folder to one file, by following these steps:

1. Using Outlook, click File | Import and Export.

2. Choose Export to a File | Tab Separated Values (Windows). This step may require the Office 2000 CD the first time.
Choose the folder you want to Export.

3. Click on Browse to put the file where you want it, and enter a name for the saved file. Comma Separated Values (Windows) will be selected as the file type.

4. Click OK | Next | Finish.

5. Open Word, navigate to where you saved the file, and open it. [Meryl]

What's this? (^_^) That my fellow readers is a Japanese Smiley! The Smileys (Emoticons) are used very often in the sentences of e-mails. It had begun in USA where the internet had begun, of course. In Japan the Smileys (Emoticons) grew differently from U.S.A, now they have various kinds. The difference between eastern(1 byte) Smileys(Emoticons) and Japanese ones(2 bytes) Apparently Japanese Smileys (Emoticons) are read vertically, eastern Smileys (Emoticons) are read horizontally. And Japanese face marks have much more kinds of variation than eastern ones. I think the reason is that while American (alphabet) letters in computer are 1 byte, Japanese letters in computer are 2 bytes, so Japanese letters can have more characters. And also, Japanese sentences contain Chinese characters which are phonograms, so it is easier to express and recognize something graphic with letters for Japanese people Learn more and see Japanese smiley's here.
